If you need men’s sizes

Both Hana pairs above are sold as women’s. Two of the rows we added on 7 September 2026 are not:

The one real difference: the footbed

Birkenstock describes the Boston’s footbed as contoured cork-latex with a suede lining, and says it creates custom support with wear. That break-in is the thing owners describe when they say the shoes get better.

The dupes use cork too, but none of their makers says it is the same cork-latex mix. CUSHIONAIRE says the Hana’s contoured cork footbed also moulds to the foot. Several dupes add memory foam on top, which feels softer on day one. We have not wear-tested any of them, so the table above gives only what each maker states.

For a shoe worn a few times a week, the difference in footbed is small and the price gap is large. For a shoe worn every day for years, Birkenstock’s documented footbed is most of what you are paying for. That is the honest way to decide, and it is not the same answer for everyone.

Where we found no honest dupe

• The Arizona two-strap — a crowded field of near-identical unbranded listings where we could not identify a specific seller worth vouching for. Being unable to name the maker is a reason not to link it. Still true on the 7 September 2026 re-check.
• The Boston Soft Footbed — the soft version's extra foam layer is the point of it, and no dupe we checked reproduces that rather than just the outline.
